Research (Back to Top)
Ongoing research is at the core of Search Institute's work. Communities that wish to measure developmental assets among their young people can use Profiles of Student Life: Attitudes and Behaviors, an in-depth survey that provides a portrait of the community's youth. Call for a free information packet. In addition, Search Institute continues to undertake foundational research on the nature and impact of developmental assets. Information on this research will be made available through Assets magazine, other publications, and Search Institute's Web site.
Resource Materials (Back to Top)
Search Institute offers a growing collection of print and video resources to assist individuals, organizations, and communities in their asset-building efforts. These include awareness-raising tools (posters, videos, brochures), research reports, practical planning guides, and curriculum supplements. A key resource is Assets: The Magazine of Ideas for Healthy Communities & Healthy Youth.
Speaking and Training (Back to Top)
Search Institute has trained speakers available to share the asset-building perspective with community groups, educators, and others. We are also developing training opportunities to help communities get started with asset-building efforts. Communities can sponsor training events for leaders, youth workers, and other residents.
Networking (Back to Top)
We recognize that some of the most valuable information for community partnerships and organizations will come from other places involved in asset building. Therefore, Search Institute intentionally links communities together for idea sharing and problem solving. The major networking opportunity is the annual Healthy Communities - Healthy Youth Conference, which is held each fall.
